You may have heard or seen jingles on radio, television, internet and bill board on weight loss pills, some of them will say “you can eat whatever you like, from diet high in carbohydrate or high in fat and so on, take this little pill and bla bla bla, this pill will do wonders for you, it will make you lose weight very fast.
The question here is does these pills really deliver on what the manufacturer says it is?
Whenever we realize that we have problems as human beings, we always want the fastest way to solve these problems. Someone who is obese/overweight will want something simple, like taking a few weight loss pills, to do the whole work for him/her. But, this is the main target of these weight loss pills or weight management drug manufacturers,
by promoting pills in different forms promising to help in fast weight loss. But, weight loss is not something that can happen without hard work, it is totally impossible for any pill to single handedly help you lose weight like 5, or more pounds.
Even the most tested and trusted approved pills or diet supplements, that can be prescribed by weight loss experts to treat obesity or overweight are a kind of one dimensional solution in the course of treating the problem of overweight/obesity. Some over the counter weight loss pill or diet supplements might claim to work everything from increasing the body’s metabolism, help in memory, building muscle fast, reduce fat or help in increasing sexual drive and lots more, these form of drugs are rarely, if they even exist, when studied properly, they are not monitored for quality and safety by the state or federal drug agencies and according to research by the mayo clinic, “these are not medicines”, “they are not meant to treat or cure any disease”. A lot of diet supplement/weight loss pill in the market that claim to be clinically proven to cure obesity or overweight, might be supported by just a small clinical or short term trials of a few individual with obesity.
Some of these pill claim to be working as fat trappers, fat burners, metabolic boosters, appetite reducer, making you to stop eating much for a long time and so on.

These pills or medications are very controversial, some products that are harmful had been removed from the market as a result of it causing serious health problems. Some of these pills have serious side effects, it had lead to death, heart problem and some cases of pulmonary hypertension. As a result of these side effects caused by these pills, some doctors don’t want to recommend these pills to patients.
Some health experts might prescribe weight management medications occasionally. But, he/she should be able to inform the patient the side effects that needs to be monitored, which may include hearth rhythms, blood pressures, mood and so on.

We should be aware of weight management products that promise quick and easy weight reduction in a short time. These diet supplements sold over the counter, in most cases are not regulated for quality by the drug agencies, according to government drug agencies most of these pills do not work and might be detrimental to human health.
Even the federal agencies approved weight management pills are not magic bullet for weight loss. Due to individual differences or genetics, pills won’t work for everybody the same, they might also have different side effects or very risky.
But, the average benefit they provide may be greater than the risk if your overweight-related health risk is significant.
